Dean Channing (guitar and vocals)
Ed Byron (guitar and vocaks)
The duo Hard Road is formed from the combined talent and life experience of two very different but similar individuals. Dean Channing who grew up down south with grits and cat fish and the sweet smell of the ocean recalls his first baby sitter being the reel to reel his father sat him in front of on a daily basis. His love for music grew stronger as the time ticked by he picked up a guitar at the age of 11 and has never put it down. He would practice for hours singing and playing and on occasion would over do it playing till his fingers bled, but as the old saying goes you get to carnegie hall by Practice,Practice,Practice.
Ed Byron who's love for music and knowledge of playing is obvious when you listen to him. The sweet interwoven melodic style that he brings to the duo is truly fun to listen to.
A veteran of the Long Island club band scene, and enjoyed long stints as a guitarist for “The Strangers” and “The Attans Brothers”.
He has also done session work for a multitude of other artists, appearing on songs by John Savage, Tim Lowe, and Kenny Owen’s “Holy Crows” band.
After moving to Central New York, Ed hooked up with “Savage Stone”, playing the Utica and Syracuse area (love that Pfohl’s Beach House), and working as WOUR’s unofficial “House Band”.
Acoustically, his instrument of choice is a Taylor 6 string. Influences include Jerry Garcia, Larry Carlton, and Tony Rice, to name just a few.
