A group of local black elected officials say that the proposed State Senate lines are a deliberate attempt to dilute the city's minority vote.

The Rochester Black Political Caucus has written Governor Andrew Cuomo (letter at right) to express its opposition to the proposed lines. They want him to veto the proposed districts if they make it through the Legislature.

Many of the signers of this letter, which uses Latinos population figures to bolster the argument, have spent significant time working to denying Latinos representation in government. Hypocrites!

"... Latino population figures..."

The governor should veto the lines. Here is a link to better Senate and Assembly lines by Common Cause: www.citizenredistrictny.org/reform-maps/, though I'm sure Joe Morelle would hate these lines because it would make his district a coin toss.
